IPsec Tunnel between two Vigor Routers with the same IP subnet

This document shows how to create an IPsec LAN to LAN VPN between the two offices where both routers have the same LAN IP subnet. It uses the Virtual IP mapping feature  in the “IPsec VPN with the Same Subnets” setting option available in the latest firmware for Vigor2860 and Vigor2925 routers.

New feature:

  •          Support BGP.

Improvement

  •          WAN1 increased timeout during LCP Terminate-ACK.
  •          IPsec traffic wasn't passed to VPN server at Vigor2860 routing subnet.
  •          DDNS update problem occurred when 3G modem, PPP mode was used.

Improvement

  •          Add an option to Disable TLS 1.0.
  •          Add telnet command for configuring VPN Dial-out through.

  •          LAN client could access Vigor router across VLAN.
  •          NAT loopback did not work when DMZ was enabled.
  •          Ping Diagnosis of diagnostics interface was displayed incorrectly when ping through VPN tunnel.

  •          Improvements to make security updates for Samba service (CVE-2017-7494).

  •          Update APP signatures for Hotspot, UltraSurf, PPstream and Google Hangouts.

NAT

How to enable ALG (Application Layer Gateway)?

Due to the protocols like SIP, RTSP and FTP are short of NAT-T, so when the service server is behind NAT, the connection could fail. ALG is able to resolve this issue. With ALG enabled, Vigor router will replace the private IP with public IP in the negotiation packet from the client and open dynamic TCP/UDP ports required in the connection.
